Lucas Popernack Memorial Scholarship Fund
The family of one of the nine rescued Quecreek miners suffered a tragic loss, that being the loss of a child. Mark Popernack and his wife Sandy lost their son, Lucas in a 4-wheeler, ATV accident in August 2010. We ask that you hold Mark, Sandy and Luke's brother Dan in your prayers as they work through an unbelievably difficult time.

When losing a child we look for any good that can possibly come from the tragedy. In this case we hope it will provide some small comfort knowing that other young people will be assisted in pursuing higher education through a scholarship which has been established in Lucas Popernack's name. The scholarship will be given annually to a graduating student from the Somerset Area High School.
